Stayed in the Hasten House for a night before heading south to San Diego. While heading back to the room at night, met a couple who was drinking outside their room. We chat a bit and they were sharing enthusiastically about where the best location to view stars in San Francisco and this awesome little Denmark in Solvang which we should not miss. Upon arriving this little down, you can feel the Danish atmosphere and culture. Being a danish village, you can find beautiful themed shops selling European imports and unique handicrafts.
Personally I simply love this little bookshop, The Book Loft. On the second level of this bookstore lies the Hans Christian Andersen Museum which presents the author’s works. Hans Christian Andersen was one of the greatest fairy tales storytellers and his greatest stories include The Ugly Duckling, The Snow Queen and The Little Mermaid. It was really awesome seeing some of his early editions as well as the Danish books.
While exploring the stores, you might see a horse-drawn streetcar on the road. They call it Honen which stands for little hen in Danish.
